Battlefield 3 Single Player Paper Prototype
The idea behind this quick paper prototype is to provide a new, tactical experience to Battlefield 3. I spent about two days on this project. The experience is meant to be fast, intense, emotional, and difficult. Building off of real life tactics, this level requires you and your partner to utilize bounding overwatch as you progress through the combat zone. Bounding is a simple concept; you provide cover fire and/or overwatch as your partner moves to the next cover point in a 3-5 second rush. When your partner is in cover safely, they provide the same cover fire/overwatch until you reach your next cover point. This would be explained to the player once, and a single objective would be available to teach. After this objective, however, it is completely up to the player how to approach the situation. This will be fairly difficult to those that are new to the concept of bounding, but the players will quickly learn that moving outside the visual and audio queues from your partner, as well as standing up outside of cover, will prove hazardous to your progression. While experiencing this battle sequence, there will be civilians in the line of fire, and the player must make the decision to protect them, or protect their teammate. There is also a time limit that will run out if the player takes too long. Grey box and walkthrough coming soon!
